Upon graduating from the California Western School of Law, Steve Wells started out with his criminal defense practice in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Wells was the lead criminal defense attorney in hundreds of cases covering homicide to drug crime. Mr. Wells handled a large variety of criminal cases in both state and federal court.

He practiced in Nashville and throughout Middle Tennessee for several years, sharing space with Lionel Barrett, one of Tennessee’s premiere criminal defense attorneys. After many successful years in Tennessee, Mr. Wells moved his practice to Alaska. He had always wanted to serve the state as a criminal defense attorney. As the sole public defender in Dillingham, Alaska, Mr. Wells handled every type of state cases from commercial fishing to first-degree murder.

In 2004, Mr. Wells joined the Office of Public Advocacy, Alaska’s alternate defender agency, as a traveling criminal defense attorney. Mr. Wells traveled throughout Alaska handling serious criminal cases. He handled homicide, sex crimes, robbery, kidnapping and first-degree assault cases as well as many others.

In May of 2006, Mr. Wells launched his private criminal defense practice. He continues to provide excellent representation to his clients in state and federal court.
